Our Story

It Started With One Open Door

Every community has children whose lives are shaped by poverty, street life, and limited opportunities. Rain Edge International Centre was founded in 2006 in Nakuru, Kenya, by Sammy Nawali—who overcame childhood struggles on the streets himself—with a powerful purpose: to be the turning point where hope begins again. Driven by a mission to reach, nurture, empower, and release vulnerable children, we provide a safe home through Sure24 Children's Home, offering temporary shelter, food, rehabilitation, and the loving foundation every young person deserves.

We believe true transformation happens through holistic education and capacity building. Through Living Fountain Academy primary school, Rainedge High School, and higher education sponsorship, we equip over 130 children with quality academic support. Beyond the classroom, we nurture unique gifts through sports, music, and the arts—from our nationally ranked choir and brass band to an international youth rugby team. Every initiative is designed to help youth discover their divine purpose, excel, and transition into confident, self-reliant leaders.

Our overarching vision is to build a healthy, working, and self-sustainable community. To make this a reality, we operate local social enterprises including tailoring, Sure Hope Confectioneries, Aqua Sure water bottling, and sustainable farming projects that fuel our mission. Every child rescued and empowered strengthens a family, every sustainable project transforms a community, and together we create a future filled with dignity, opportunity, and lasting impact.

Vulnerable Children

The core of our mission. We provide residential care to children who have lost one or both parents and have no family support system.

Our Journey

15 Years of Milestones

From a single room to a full ecosystem — the moments that shaped who we are today.

2007 — Founded

The First Home Opens

Founder opens a single residential room to ten vulnerable children. Rain Edge International is officially registered as a non-profit organisation.

2010 — Enterprise

Water Packaging Plant Launched

Our first social enterprise — a pure water packaging plant — begins operations. Revenue directly funds the orphanage's operational costs.

2013 — Expansion

New Residential Block & 100 Children

A new dormitory block is completed, expanding the home's capacity to 100 children. A full-time medical nurse joins the team.

2015 — Education

Secondary School Opens

Rain Edge Senior School admits its first cohort of students, providing a seamless educational pathway from primary through to national examinations.

2019 — Enterprise

Bakery & Farm Established

We diversify our enterprise portfolio with a community bakery and a productive farm — reducing food costs and creating 15 full-time community jobs.

2023 — Achievement

First University Graduates

Our pioneering cohort — children who entered the home in the early years — graduate from university with degrees in medicine, engineering, and education.

Today — Growing

Expanding Ventures & Deeper Impact

With 500+ children served, two accredited schools, three social enterprises, and new ventures in development — Rain Edge International continues to grow.

With over 15+ years of experience in child welfare, Omufwoko founded Rain Edge International Center after witnessing the systemic gaps in care for vulnerable children. He has grown the organisation from a one-room shelter to a multi-programme ecosystem.
