This policy explains what personal information Rain Edge International collects when you use our website, donate, or contact us — and how we handle it.

1. Who We Are

Rain Edge International Center is a registered non-profit organisation operating an orphanage home, three accredited schools, and social enterprises. We operate the website at rainedgeinternational.org.

2. What We Collect

We collect information only when you actively provide it:

• Donations — name, email, amount, payment reference. Payment details (card numbers etc.) are processed directly by Paystack and never stored on our servers.
• Sponsorship registration — name, email, phone, country, and your message.
• Contact & enquiry forms — name, email, phone, and the content of your message.
• Newsletter — email address, and optionally your name.
• Automatically — we log page URLs and anonymised (hashed) IP addresses for basic analytics. We do not track individuals across websites.

3. How We Use It

We use your information only for the purposes for which you provided it:

• To process your donation and send you a receipt
• To manage your child sponsorship and send you monthly updates
• To respond to your contact form or programme enquiry
• To send our newsletter (only if you subscribed)
• To improve our website based on anonymised usage data

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making.

4. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes. We share data only with:

• Paystack — solely to process your payment. Governed by Paystack's Privacy Policy.
• Our email provider (SMTP) — to send receipts, newsletters and confirmations.
• Authorities — if required by law or to protect the safety of children in our care.

5. Cookies

Our website uses a single session cookie to manage your login state (admin users only) and CSRF protection on forms. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

6. Data Retention

• Donation records — kept for 7 years for accounting and legal compliance.
• Contact messages — kept for 2 years, then deleted.
• Newsletter subscribers — kept until you unsubscribe. Unsubscribed records are deleted within 30 days.
• Page view logs — aggregated and anonymised after 90 days.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your country of residence, you may have the right to:

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Ask us to delete your data (where no legal obligation requires us to keep it)
• Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. unsubscribe from newsletter)
• Object to how we use your data

8. Children's Privacy

Our website is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 through this website.

Regarding the children in our care: we handle all personal information about resident children with the highest level of confidentiality. Photographs and stories shared on this website are published only with appropriate consent and never include identifying information (surnames, home location, family details).

9. Security

We protect your data using industry-standard measures — HTTPS encryption on all pages, hashed passwords, prepared SQL statements to prevent injection, CSRF tokens on all forms, and restricted access to our admin system. No online system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable and proportionate measures to protect your information.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we update the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes we will notify active newsletter subscribers by email.
